A Real Southside Six-cess!

Wow! What can we say!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to the very first official running of The Southside Six. You were a fantastic field of competitors and it made organising the race totally worth it!

A record-breaking field (well it is the first event!) of over 220 runners made it around the course starting and finishing at the flagpole in Queen’s Park with the winning times as follows:

1st Male Andrew Wright – 1:33:00
2nd Male Grant Baillie – 1:36:23
3rd Male Bruce Carse – 1:37:06

1st Female Jennifer MacLean – 1:42:19
2nd Female Deborah Gray – 1:55:31
3rd Female Mary McCutcheon – 1:58:00

Our superb volunteer marshals seem to have been the making of the event with so many people saying how helpful and encouraging they were. Without them it would have been a very different event!

We must also thank Mark Cohen of Mark’s Deli for delicious soup and rolls, Marie Gannon for her wonderful tasty cakes, Mark and Jo from RunUrban for the prizes and support and finally the staff at The Glasshouse for being so accommodating.

Time now for a few pints of Southside Six Beer in The Clockwork followed by a well earned rest.

We’ll try and get the results up early in the week!
